Larry W. Woodley, 86, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 at Hope West Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Born August 8, 1939 to Ward C. and Veneda D. (Penticoff) Woodley in Hampton, Iowa, Larry spent his school years in southern California.  In 1957 he graduated from El Segundo High School where he played football, basketball and baseball.  Along with his first wife Donna (Harty), he raised three children.

Larry and Janis (Kohnen) were married in Lake Tahoe, NV on September 2, 1978.

Larry found a love of building houses which brought him to Denver, Colorado.  An opportunity came along to move to Vail, Colorado where he succeeded in creating many beautiful homes throughout the valley for 28 years.

Holidays included many family members and vacation time was spent traveling the world; enjoying trips to Europe, the Caribbean and around the United States, including an Alaskan cruise.

Retiring in 2006, Larry and Janis moved to Loma, Colorado.  From there they ventured out on numerous motorhome journeys.  Loving to drive, Larry and Janis toured the United States and spent many winters in Arizona.  They also enjoyed participating in trap shooting tournaments, making many good friends along the way.  Golf was another pastime and included working summers at Adobe Creek Golf Club in Fruita, CO.

Larry found his dream car in Tennessee: a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino.  He spent countless hours rebuilding the engine and making other improvements which won him trophies at various car shows in Western Colorado.

Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janis, his children David (Tere), Deborah Robertson and Matthew (Wendy), three grandchildren Blaine Woodley, Tyler (Lupita) Woodley and Jessica Robertson.  His great-grandchildren are Luis and Paloma Woodley. Sisters-in-law are Karla Kohnen, Jill McLemore and Heather (Kirk) Harris, nephews Kellan McLemore and Todd (Tiffany) Davis as well as cousins. He is preceeded in death by his parents and sister (Judith Derby).
