It has been ten years since we last heard your voice or laughter, and not a day goes by that you are not missed.

In that time, your children have grown into remarkable adults. Your son proudly serves in the United States Navy, just as you did, and your daughter has earned her commercial pilot’s license and is working toward her bachelor’s degree in aviation. We know you would be so proud of the people they’ve become.

Derek was more than a deputy. He was a devoted dad, a loving husband, a beloved son, and the kind of man who made everyone feel seen and cared for. He was quick with a joke, generous with his time, and known for treating others with patience and kindness. Friends, coworkers, and even those he once helped in difficult moments still share stories of how he checked in on them and quietly made a difference in their lives.

We continue to feel supported by this community and remain deeply grateful for the love shown to our family over the years. He will never be forgotten and will always live on in our hearts.
