Dee Albert Brinegar, 93, died June 2 at La Villa Grande Care Center. He was born December 18, 1931 in Carleton, NE to John Fredrick and Helen Crockett Brinegar. He graduated from Carleton High School, Fairbury Junior College, and served 4 years in the US Air Force, with one year in Korea. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska and received his master's degree in accounting from Denver University and earned his CPA license.
He met Patsy Allis on a blind date, and they were married on June 26, 1959 for 66 years. They started married life in Denver, moving to Grand Junction in 1968. As a CPA, he was a partner in the firm Maxfield, Miller, Brinegar, and Lowe. He became Controller for Gay Johnsons, Inc. for 38 years, retiring at the age of 88.
He was a loyal member of the Grand Junction Rotary Club for 56 years, serving as President, Secretary/Treasurer, many committees, and earned a Paul Harris Fellow award.
He enjoyed family, friends, travels, gardening, golf, volleyball, reading, TV football, and his beloved dog Willie. Dee was a loyal, caring, positive man, and an occasional practical joker.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat, children John (Cecilia) and grandchildren Nick, Andy, and Tom; Tom (Camela), grandchild Brady, and great-grandaughter Brooklynn; Allison (Marc McAtlin), children Brenna and Connor; sister Nelda Sanner of Davenport, NE.
Dee will be interred at the VA cemetery in a private family ceremony.
