SAN MIGUEL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Seeking Independent Referees who are experienced in Property Valuation to
Conduct Hearings for Property Tax Valuation Protests
SAN MIGUEL COUNTY Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking Hearing
Officers to conduct property valuation appeal hearings (County Board of
Equalization) from approximately July 18 through July 28, 2025. These are
temporary, part-time, independent contractor positions.
Candidates MUST have experience in real property valuation or appraisal, and a
background in real estate is very helpful. Interested persons should submit

Hearings will be conducted electronically via Zoom, allowing remote
participation. San Miguel County reserves the right to reject any proposals.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent and either
2. A minimum of ten years of professional work experience involving the
valuation of Colorado real and personal property, or any combination of
education and experience that produces the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities necessary to conduct hearings and make well-informed recommendations
involving the valuation of Colorado real and personal property
Selection will be based on an evaluation of factors, including but not limited
to residential and commercial valuation appraisal experience, local knowledge of
the region, and the ability to meet deadlines associated with the 2025 appeal
period.
