Job Description

Hoskin Farina & Kampf, P.C. – Busy twenty lawyer firm with 90+ year history seeks an experienced, detail-oriented, and trustworthy Legal Bookkeeper. In person/On-site, full-time position (8:30AM – 5:00PM, M-F). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in law firm accounting, with a deep understanding of client billing, trust accounting rules (IOLTA), payroll processing, and financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities
•    Billing & Accounts Receivable: Process monthly client invoicing, track time entries, issue statements, and manage collections.
•    Trust Accounting: Manage and help reconcile client trust accounts (IOLTA), strictly adhering to Colorado Bar compliance and regulations.
•    Payroll & Benefits: Process bi-weekly payroll, and special year-end payrolls, via iSolved, and assist with the administration of firm benefits.
•    Accounts Payable: Review, code, and process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements.
•    Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss sheets and balance sheets for Firm Administrator and Shareholders review.
•    Bank Reconciliation: Assist with monthly reconciliations for all operating and savings bank accounts.
•    Tax Support: Assist external CPA firm with year-end tax preparation, 1099 processing, and tax compliance.
Qualifications & Skills
•    Experience: Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a law firm or other professional service environment (firm size of 15+ attorneys preferred).
•    Software Proficiency: Knowledge of legal billing software, and enterprise-level accounting software. Knowledge of and experience with payroll processing, and iSolved payroll software preferred.
•    Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of legal ethics regarding client funds and trust accounting.
•    Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited school is preferred.
•    Traits: Exceptional attention to detail, absolute discretion with confidential data, strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, team player.
Compensation and Benefits
•    Estimated starting salary range: $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience. Eligibility for discretionary and other bonus.
